I have an ideal lawn for this robot but ...

I have the Luba 2 AWD 5000H and have been using it for 3 months now. I'm overall happy with it today but if it doesn't last a minimum of 2 years I will be greatly disappointed with it.

Criticism: I have 1/3 acre and this unit is sold as 1.25 acre device and there's no way that's practically true w/o out manual intervention. It takes 12 hours-ish to do one pass on my lawn. Each time i have to spray the deck and clean the blades because of the build up / to get it ready for the next run. I have an ideal lawn - nearly zero weeds, no trees. If you have a lot of trees, I'm not sure it would be worth it. And going into it I thought i'd just have to spray the deck off after each mow and do blade maintenance every few weeks but that has to be done every mow. Last bit of criticism is I'm worried it's not safe enough - not that it doesn't try but if someone intentionally allowed it to hurt them, I think it would (kids).

Things I've had to learn: For my lawn that has a side walk through it, making the lawn all one zone works way better than breaking out and avoiding the side walk battery-wise. It also took me weeks to figure out the blades spin in toward the middle of the device - when you set up your blades to run, you want to put the sharpest side toward the middle on each side. I bought a electronics drill to make taking the blades off and on faster. I recommend ordering the garage cover for the charging station and buying the wall mount for the antenna if you have weather in your area. The blades aren't that expensive but I wish there was a slick sharpening device to keep them effective longer. I'm also tempted to explore some after market products to make the cut better.

Praise: The lawn lines are beautiful, the grass is a deeper green because I can run it more frequently and it stresses the grass out less, it handles the hills better than i can, I'm enjoying dealing with less allergy stuff and I'm enjoying the extra free time I have to spend with my family. I've had to mow the lawn for decades and I am appreciated a little bit of a break.

Great time saver

I love this little unit! It took some time to set up but much less than having to install a perimeter wire. I make sure I check the area for large sticks or debris but otherwise it happily does its thing. The lawn looks great while I can spend my time in other things.

Works pretty well 90% of the time, but there's room for improvement

Have been using it for about two weeks and here's a short TL;DR of my experience: It does a pretty good job on 90% of the lawn, but you'll still need to intervene every now and then. I would still buy it knowing all this because in the end it saves me 2+ hours a week from mowing with a push mower, even more in the summer where mows are 2-3 a week.

Pros:
- Cut quality is superb, way better than any push mower I ever had
- Runtime is quite good (2025 models)
- GPS & RTK had no signal/coverage problems whatsoever, RTK range is great
- Sturdy construction
- Handles 38 degree slopes pretty well, in a straight line
- Soft on the grass, albeit being a quite heavy machine
- Works in the dark
- Kids love watching it move around autonomously 😅

Cons:
- Auto perimeter mapping with AI/Vision = ❌, had to map everything the traditional way of steering the Luba around the perimeter.
- AI/Vision obstacle detection = ❌, leaves a very large border around the obstacle. It also produces bizarre job stalls such the Luba detecting the curb as an obstacle in one corner of my lawn and switching to pause mode 🤔. In the end I usually turn the vision module off and let the Luba bump into obstacles instead, which accounts for much smaller borders and no unexpected stalls. Hopefully the AI/Vision module firmware will gain some traction in 2025 since it's a new addition to the system and we'll start seeing improvement in these behaviours.
- Turning around on slopes is a gamble; most often the Luba will slip when turning and derail the swath it was about to begin.
- Corner management. Terrible. I know it is a fairly large robot, but it doesn't really cope well with 90 degree corners. Stay away from such corners and do them with your string trimmer. Now if I could delve into the Luba's firmware, I'd add a sharp corner function where it would simply go back and forth on tight spaces or corners like this instead of trying to turn around, which only yields badly covered round corners and increases the chance of getting stuck somewhere.
- No support for IEEE 802.11s networking for Mesh WiFi, which makes range-extending your home WiFi into the lawn a challenge

Minor annoyances:
- Perimeter mowing: If you turn it off, the app doesn't extend the internal swaths to cover off the perimeter and you're left with a thick border of unmowed lawn, what in the world...?!
- Can't have per-plot settings in a single job, say I want to do a checkerboard pattern on one area and back and forth on another, can't do that. You have do create two separate jobs.
- Bluetooth range is abysmal (needed to manually control the Luba); I've seen earphones with better range

Amazing Product - 5000HX

I just purchased the Luba 2 5000HX, and have to say I am very impressed!
It will handle ANYTHING you throw in front of it. I've been wanting a robotic mower for a couple years now but a high rated mower with a very well known name just didn't quite have all the features I needed.
Then came Mammotion! I started searching again online and a mower called 'Luba 2' kept reaching the #1 slot on soo many reviews that I jumped on the website and looked at the features. I decided to pull the trigger, and will never regret it now!! I have 1.3 acres around my house and it handles it flawlessly...I only have to do about 15 minutes of trimming after all my zones are completed.
WELL DONE MAMMOTION! You have a real winner here.
For anyone on the fence about spending a good chunk of money on the Luba 2...just get it now, I promise you will not regret your decision.

Luba 2 AWD 3000

I received my Lube 2 AWD 3000 a couple weeks ago and was a breeze to assemble and connect everything. walked the yard and programed the boundaries as well as all the NO GO zones with no issues. after a few cuts was able to tweak everything with ease including, cut speed, width directions and everything is working great. starting to see the pattern lines in the yard and appreciate the benefit of the yard being cut and looking good while I'm enjoying life. still requires edging periodically to give it the final touch. Overall very pleased with the mower.
